Carefree Cave Creek No. Scottsdale Desert Ridge
Map of Cave Creek

Cave Creek - The Town of Cave Creek, recently incorporated in 1986, has evolved from a small mining town carved out of the rocky wilderness during the 1880's Arizona gold rush into a community of 4,000 residents. Located west of its neighbor Carefree, Cave Creek is about 40 miles north of the airport. Area residents expound on their love of the archaeological history of the area as well as the plants and animals of the Sonoran desert.
Today, Cave Creek has become a relaxing rural refuge for the special person who still enjoys the country/ranch lifestyle of horseback riding, artistic endeavors or just enjoys the spectacular views of the 2.9 million acre Tonto National Forest with Elephant Butte and Skull Mesa to the north.
Downtown Cave Creek consists about a 1/2 mile of numerous quaint shops, stores, bars and restaurants strung out along Cave Creek Road, all reflecting the rural, artistic, and independent lifestyle the locals enjoy. The ambience and atmosphere of the local restaurants are as varied as the fare served. Have an authentic western barbque at Harold’s Cave Creek Corral, The Horny Toad or Satisfied Frog (you’d never guess) Restaurants. Or have Mexican food at a local cantina such as El Encanto. Or try the gourmet specialties at The Tonto Bar & Grill, Cartwright's, The Cracked Crab, Fandango or Territorial Bar & Grill.
Seasonal events start in October with art festivals and rodeos and continue through Christmas and into the new year concluding with the Annual Fiesta Days Parade. Local bed & breakfasts, hotels and ranches offer horseback rides, jeep tours, bike tours, balloon rides and hiking trips.
Cave Creek School District 93 offers an award winning education to children living within the 144 square mile boundaries of its confines. The district is composed of elementary schools, middle schools, and a high school, as well as a Fine Arts Center. The serene rural atmosphere is the background for personalized attention designed to develop the potential of each student.
Rancho Mañana is a challenging and panoramic semi-public golf course nestled among the hills of Cave Creek. The feeling in Cave Creek is country/ranch lifestyle with people who prefer horses and the old down home hacienda feeling. Some roads are still unpaved as most horse riding locals prefer this. Prices start at about $200,000 and quickly run to $500,000+. Town of Cave Creek's Web Site Link.
